Do Vaccines Cause Autism?
Sunday May 21, 2006
While there's no doubt that vaccines have saved millions of lives, there are many who wonder whether vaccines are administered safely. The CDC and other major research institutions assure parents that they have investigated the issue, and that there is no cause for worry. But concerns about the mercury-based preservative thimerosal and the live-virus based MMR vaccine persist. Today, they are at the heart of a heated debate within the autism community.

I believe that tey do have something to do with autism. I am a mother of 4 boys 1 whom has pdd. All my other boys are fine. I once read somthing that stated that some children are born with a problem in their bodies where the can not tolerate the mercury the same way others do .This statement accually made a little bit of since to me . My other boy are all fine. Along with the diagnosis of pdd he also has adhd , sensory intergration disfunction , sever fine moter delays , and severe articulation problems . I pray for the day that they come to the conclusion of what exactly causes autism.
My son was different from birth. I did not see a decline in his abilities after vaccinations so I was skeptical of the vaccine arguement for a long time. However, now I do think that for some children vaccines can be a problem. These children may simply have a sensitivity to metals which leads to autistic symptoms. Research is now showing that there may be more than two different types of autism. I consider us lucky that my son was born 4 years ago, just when all the new information about autism was beginning to be more well known. He’s doing great!
I believe same as to the others. I have a 10yr old daughter who is fine. Practically, an A B student! Then there is my son. 5yrs old who was diagnosed at 3 with Autism. Had all shots as required at the time before he could start school. Found out he has severe learning, throws tantrums, shakes hands, and has a collection of toothbrushes I might add. Children’s hospital didn’t feel like he should be put on med’s unless the teacher’s felt he should.. Trey has finished 1 yr in Pre-school and now can tell you colors and numbers and animals.. This is a big accomplishment for him..
NO - Vaccines do not cause autism.
Period - End of story.
As a mother of a child with autism, I tire of these agruements. They dont have to use science…just a gut feel - to prove us wrong.
These arguements are WASTING needed funds towards different avenues of medical research. That could be HELPING our children right now - if it werent for the conspiracy theory Mercury Moms. Get your head out of your butts, out of the EOH chatrooms….and read some real medical research…from peer reviewed journals - not the trash the vaccine groups throw around.
How can you read all the research and say it is NOT the vaccines? This article is from a pediatric peer…..he is ashamed of his peers, the ones you hold in such high regard..the peers who gave the vaccine!http://pediatrics.aappublications.org/cgi/eletters/117/4/1028
It’s 2006, how can any human think any mercury could be safe?
Immerse yourself in as much reading about
mercury-damaged kids (and adults) as you have time to do. We are all desperate for
recovery for our autistic children and therefore get emotionally charged in defense of them. There shouldn’t be any ’sides’ to this condition. Have enough integrity and intellect to realize that the onset of ‘autism’ could be any combination of elements from thimerisol-laden vaccines
to exposure to toxic elements in the environment and so the list grows…
I am a parent of an autistic child who was also diagnosed at two years of age. He developed normally until around 18 months when he lost all skills and was lost to us. After five years of ABA, biomedical treatments, and many other medical issues, I have read research from both sides and truly believe that vaccines were a major factor in my son’s autism!
Its hard to know what to think. I know that our daughter was developing fine. Just after her MMR shot she slept all afternoon and pretty much through the night. It seemed like from then on our daughter disappeared into the world of Autism. Understanding that onset Autism happens around the same time that the shots are given, that maybe it just seems like that is the answer. I think that many people truly believe it. You would think that now that the mecury has been removed that there would be a decline in Autism, instead there has been a rise in Autism.Parents are on such a intense roller coaster ride and are out to find answers. I still wonder, therefore our youngest son did not receive a couple of the shots so we didnt have to deal with the what if’s. Our daughter is so beautiful and has come so far. She is 8. My heart goes out to all families that are living the roller coaster ride of Autism. They deserve a medal. I hope that all Parents or caregivers get the well deserved support that they need for such an unbelieveable challenge. Everyone should respect peoples beliefs either way because who knows!!
