Autism experts are few and far between. In Pennsylvania, there are a grand total of 13 developmental pediatricians -- and no more than a handful of psychologists who specialize in supporting families with special needs. For families who are learning to understand and support an adult with Asperger Syndrome, there are even fewer resources. That's why I'm so delighted to offer readers access to autism experts who have graciously agreed to answer reader questions.

I am 46 years old and until three days ago, never realized that the possible source of my problems could be high-functioning aspergers. From researching this online, things seem to all make sense, expecially about my family, whom now I am almost convinced both my father and mother had it severely. Both my parents were extremely abusive to us kids, and their crazy and vicious behavior plugs in so well, to the extremes of Aspergers I have been reading about. So what is a person in my position, at my age, to do? Where are the resources for me to find help? Everything seems to be geared towards kids that I can find. I would like to find someone who can evaluate me, and see what areas they can help me in.
