Child First LLC Videos Help Learners Prepare for Daily Life
It may seem like a simple matter to teach an individual with autism to brush their teeth, wash their hands, or say good morning. In fact, it can be quite a challenge. And some research seems to show that video models can actually be more effective than in-person teaching -- perhaps because many autistic people are highly visual learners with a terrific knack for memorization. A company called Child First LLC has developed a set of six DVD/videos called The Able Individual. Each addresses a set of self-help skills including hygiene, chores and social interactions.
