Who Is Andrew Wakefield?

From Lisa Jo Rudy, About.com GuideFebruary 3, 2010

If you're new to the autism/vaccine debate, you may wonder who Dr. Andrew Wakefield is.  You may also be puzzled as to why so much is being made of the revocation of a 1998 study including just twelve autistic children.  If so, you may want to take a look at these short, non-technical articles on the subject:

Video showing Brian Deer (the bizarre reporter whose complaint to the GMC started the process of the charges against Dr. Wakefield) and interviewing some of the parents of the children studied by Dr. Wakefield et al. This video is long, but it is worth watching twice. The second time you absorb it all that much better.

Hi Twyla,

I hope you teach your children not to believe everything they read on-line.

Some sites aren’t competent–others aren’t honest.

By the way..

Brian Deer did not file a complaint/initiate the proceedings against Wakefield, but after years of this falsehood being corrected I have given up hope on the Wakefield supporters telling the truth.

Brian Deer is not a “bizarre reporter”, to the contrary he is a very famous investigative reporter most well known for exposures of unethical conduct by drug companies.

Brian Deer has been proven correct in pretty much every aspect of his reporting on Wakefield.

Brian Deer’s rewards for this reporting includes:
Being harassed by Carol Stott–who now works at Thoughfulhouse. Her conduct was not just immoral, but extraordinarily stupid.
Being legally harassed by Wakefield–whose behavior was so contemptible that UK courts ridiculed his integrity and made him pay Brian Deer compensation

But then I doubt you can find any good faith effort to report the basic facts of the story at cryshame or AoA etc.

The question is: do you care enough to learn the truth?
