Share Valentines for a loved one with autism (preview!)

From Lisa Jo Rudy, About.com Guide   January 27, 2009

A few weeks ago, I invited readers to share notes, photos, poems or other loving messages about and to the autistic loved one in their lives. This blog is a reminder that February 14th is just around the corner. And it's a chance to share a "preview" of some of the notes that have arrived so far. Enjoy!
  • Hi I would like to say I LOVE MY SON ISAIAH because he is Loving, Smart and doing the best he can everyday. I LOVE him because a day without getting hit is another day won. I Love him because a day he stays in his seat is a day he learned something while sitting there. I LOVE him because he is Special. God gave him to me and I LOVE MY SON Thanks Tracy Alston

  • Our Dearest Kealen: On this Valentines Day, we want you to remember how much we love you. You mean the world to us. You are the best boy, the sweetest, smartest most handsome young boy. We are very proud of you. We are so happy to have you in our lives and we never want to be without you. We love you so very much. Thank you for being you.

    Love, Mama & Papa

  • What I love about my son with Autism is his sense of humor. He likes to watch his Papa plow snow. Sometimes he asks me to plow the couch and just laughs hysterically when I say "Plow the couch?? Who says that??"

  • I love my son's sense of humor..he makes me laugh, and his smile melts my heart.. from Traci Sickels Rogers, for 7 yr old, Dallas w/ high functioning Autism

  • To: Joshie, You are such an inspiration and you've made this family so special. We love you. You are our Valentine! Love Mum, Dad and Ben
On Valentines Day, I hope to make this list many times longer - a tribute to all the kids and adults on the spectrum whose lives make us all that much richer.
