The final chapter for Jett Travolta

Monday January 5, 2009
In today's Washington Post, readers can find answers to at least some of their questions about the tragic death of 16 year old Jett Travolta:
...Travolta's lawyers, Michael Ossi and Michael McDermott, were quoted on Sunday as saying Jett apparently suffered from grand mal seizures, which can cause loss of consciousness.

He was on an anti-seizure medication called Depakote for several years, Ossi and McDermott told the celebrity website TMZ.

They said the drug was suspended after it lost its effectiveness amid concern about side effects, however, and Jett had been suffering about one extremely serious seizure a week.

Travolta and his wife have said that Jett was sick when he was a toddler and was diagnosed with Kawasaki disease, which leads to inflammation of the blood vessels in young children.

Of course, there's now no way to know whether young Jett suffered from an autism spectrum disorder. But we can know three things. First, Jett died as the result of an accidental fall precipitated by an epileptic seizure. Second, whatever his parents' religious beliefs, they did indeed provide him with appropriate medication. Third, and most important, his parents loved him tremendously, and will miss him greatly.

John and Kelly have gone through enough and will have to carry this to their graves and even beyond. With all our trials and tribulations with our special needs kiddies, at least they’re here with us every day. Imagine for one minute the pain of them dying infront of your eyes. We all love Johnny T and this is something NO parent should go through regardless of their beliefs. Johnny T and Kelly – from one parent to another, whether your child had ASD or not, find comfort in your faith, even if we don’t understand it. We will pray for you all.
