Are You Ready to Body Slam Autism? Join Jenny and the WWE on Saturday Night
"Saturday Night's Main Event" on NBC will feature thrilling WWE competition, but this show will have special meaning. McCarthy along with other celebrities will tag team with WWE Superstars to raise awareness for children with Autism. Jenny McCarthy, who is a board member of Generation Rescue and has been called a "mother warrior" by Oprah, hopes to body slam Autism by educating parents and kids.Says Jenny in an article on the WWE site:
“I love the WWE and when Vince McMahon called me and said he wanted to join the fight and help families suffering with autism I was really excited,” said actress and best-selling author Jenny McCarthy. “Who better to have on your side in a fight than WWE?”Jenny won't be body slamming on her own; she'll be joined by video with such stars as Carmen Electra, Piers Morgan, James Roday, Toby Keith, Jewel, Billy Ray Cyrus, the cast of "Nashville Star" and more.
WWE fans and others should be aware that proceeds from this benefit go to an organization called Generation Rescue.
Generation Rescue is not a mainstream or general-purpose autism organization; rather, as they say on their front page: "We believe these neurological disorders ("NDs") are environmental illnesses caused by an overload of heavy metals, live viruses, and bacteria. Proper treatment of our children, known as "biomedical intervention", is leading to recovery for thousands." This perspective is shared by many, but is not supported by any major medical institutions.

There are good reasons why GR’s alt-med “cures” are not supported by evidence-based medicine.
Conflict of interest in the medical research and pharmaceutical industry has prevented the proper investigation from a pure unbiased science perspective of the relationship between autism and the immunization schedule. This is why the work done by Generation Rescue is so important and necessary to not only further needed research, but to also serve as an ongoing check and balance in regards to the safety of the immunization schedule. More and more experts such as Dr. Healy, Dr. Wallace and Dr. Poling are calling out for research in this area, as what is known is insufficient to discount a relationship.
