Donald Trump on Vaccines and Autism - ?! Or... Autism Star Watch

Saturday December 29, 2007
Kim Stagliano of the Huffington Post is having a field day in her self-defined role of Autism Star Watcher,

It seems that Donald Trump, in an interview regarding his role in the huge Autism Speaks awareness event about to take place in Florida, suggested that perhaps vaccines are to blame for the autism epidemic. Not that Trump is likely to have more than a clue on the subject - but his comment does make for a pretty amusing blog post. Here's what Kim has to say:

Will Autism Speaks "fire" billionaire fundraiser Donald Trump for telling the world he believes vaccinations may be at the heart of the autism? Trump's long running hit "The Apprentice" runs on NBC, and Bob Wright, founder of Autism Speaks is still with GE, which owns the network. Trump could be in trouble! Why? Allow me to explain.

The Donald made a startling pronouncement during a press stop for Autism Speaks at his Mar-A-Lago estate in Florida. One would call his words, "heresy" in some autism circles. He fingered vaccines and referenced the epidemic numbers of kids with autism. Looks like Donald Trump has been paying attention to the news.

The Sun Sentinel reported:

"In an interview, Donald Trump said he thinks the rising prevalence of autism is related to vaccinations of babies and toddlers, a topic that is hotly debated among parents and doctors."

Veteran Autism Star Watchers will remember that the Wrights had a huge, public blowout about just this issue with their daughter, Katie. While Katie believes strongly that vaccines are to blame for the rise in diagnosed cases of autism, her parents... don't. Katie spoke out in interviews on the issue, much to her parents' dismay. The resulting blogs, TV appearances, public letters and commentary were all over the media for days.

What's next for the Trump/Wright alliance? Will the Big Florida Event become yet another public forum for airing disagreements within the autism community? If nothing else, the outcomes should make for a lot more interest in the cause of autism - and, almost certainly, in Autism Speaks and its impressive star power.

what did the FDA know & when did they know it?

who is the EPA trying to protect?

What good is the CDC if they aren’t doing anything about Autism & Asperger’s?

I hope Donald Trump was smart enough not to vaccinate his baby. Spacing the vaccines out over time is just poisoning slowly. Vaccines don’t work and never have. Do your research before you inject your children with toxic chemicals and call that healthcare.

(3) John Fryer says:

Mercury is the second most toxic element and still present in 2008 in many vaccines. Found toxic 5 000 years ago. The additive in vaccines ignored after killing its discovers was tested for use as a preservative in the 1930’s when it killed 100% of those it was tested on. Present as said in modern vaccines and the FDA, EPA, CDC and especially the NIH say its necessary for vaccines.
They laugh until they kill you?

Its not a laughing matter it is calculated murder, torture and extermination

John - I just want to be sure I understand.

Are you saying that the entire medical profession is intentionally torturing and murdering our children, with the explicit support and encouragement of the CDC and EPA?!

I’m sorry, but no, I don’t buy that.

Trump is correct. No doubt about it.
I have two grandchildren affected by Autism after vaccinations. Check on the amount of mercury injected into our babies before they even leave the hospital. Unbelieveable.

It is so strange how there are so many children affected with Autism now, I have a 4 yr old with Autism and he started showing great signs of it right after his 18 mo. well check (which is also when he received his MMR vaccination)however I believe that my son was born with Autism because of other things that he did before that. The signs of Autism were definitely more obvious/prominent after he had this visit and vaccination though. He sees another doctor now, we are having him tested for mercury, lead, and other heavy metals this week, she is a regular MD not a DAN doctor ( I have opinions about those that I will not express right now). She is very pro active in helping us with anything having to do with our son. I have done research with the nursing department/instructors at the college I work for and I know what normal levels are and what the treatments are. I also know that if your child has a good MD and you request the testing for heavy metals they will do it and that your regular MD can do chelation treatments and that insurance including state plans like medicaid will pay for it. I personally do not know how I feel about vaccines causing Autism, I do know that my son had more prominent signs after that well check though. In the world we live in especially the USA it could be anything causing a condition that even be a mimic of Autism, look at all of the pollution and what is allowed to be in our FDA regulated food/water, not to mention what drug companies are allowed to do with meds. I mean who’s to say that the next perservative for vaccines won’t be just as harmful or more. I know that this is kind of a grim post but this is why parents need to do all the research that they can, ask their doctors and if they are not happy with the doc’s opinion get another one until they get what they need and want for their child! I hope that this did not offend anyone, and I hope that all of you parents and children that read these posts get the answers you are looking for!

The Donald won’t be very happy when somebody tells him that he’s been played. It will be interesting to see how this one plays out.

(9) jonathan says:

actually there is a bit of irony here. While there is no scientific evidence that vaccines cause autism. Yet research recently done by geneticist Jonathan Sebat and research from Israel has recently suggested there is a relationship between increased paternal age and the greater likelihood of having a child with autism due to spontaneous mutations that aging semen can produce.

I wonder what Trump’s take would be on that, given the fact that he is having another child at the ripe young age of 61.

Wouldn’t that be something if the Trumps’ baby were autistic due to a sexegenerian dad

(10) Sheri says:

Can any of these celebrities convince Bush of any of these. Bush has vetoed at least 2 recent bills regarding Autism. One bill that covered funds for fighting Autism and one for removing Mercury from vaccines. So it there a chance of adding these bills to a defense bill to promise a signature? Who do we talk to about that???? Who has that responsibility? I have tried writing my congressman and senators, a waste if they have different priorities! I say good for Trump!! Thank you Trump for your involvement.

(11) Mark H says:

It still amazes me how so many intelligent people can be so mislead and misinformed. There is NO known cause for Autism. Period. While I’ll submit that there are loose corelations between Autism and vaccinations, Gluten, Caisen, Mecury, “figid” mothers, paternal age and so on…that’s all they are. Loose corelations. And there is no empirical evidence that supports any of it. However, there is empirical evidence that supports a genetic link but more research needs to be done to be sure.

I suggest you all go to www.drcarley.com and read her research paper entitled “Innoculations : The True Weapons of Mass Destruction” Dr. Rebecca Carley is the only court qualified EXPERT on vaccine induced diseases “VIDS”. She uncovers and exposes the truth about what vaccines are actually doing to our bodies. It’s appalling to me; just discusting. Also, mercury isn’t what causes the autism, it’s the VACCINE itself!!! Thats what so many people don’t understand. They all jump on the thimerasol and mercury banwagon…saying just remove that and they will be safe. That statement is so far from the truth. People, do your research. Don’t beleive that the FDA, CDC else has your child’s best interest at heart; because all they see is dollar signs. I am so glad Donald had the guts to speak out! Keep spreading the TRUTH!!!

(13) Sandy says:

I guess trump would fall right into that study about parents ages, eh?

In the end, what people believe is not scientific evidence.

and to John, actually many died from the very first vaccines due to there was no preservative, and they died horribly due to bacteria, not the Thimerosal. in 2008, or 2007 or 2006…. and so on, no Thimerosal was in any mandatory childhood vaccines other than trace amounts.

(14) c.connelly says:

Trump is correct!! We really aren’t going to believe these studies that suggest chromosome breaks that occur only in utero cause autism, when it’s been a well known fact for years that adults who are occupationally exposed to mercury suffer breaks in chromosomes.Who paid for these new studies to “clear” the vaccines? Follow that money trail, I have my hunch. “murky” waters

(15) Punky Munky says:

Autism is a difference.

Many people find it offensive to be told that they are a ‘puzzle’ and need to be ‘cured’.

Perhaps more time and money could be spent supporting and enabling individuals on the autistic spectrum to live a happy and fulfilled life instead of all of this money-obsessed !ӣ$%^&*
