New Federal Legislation Introduced to Provide Services for Adults with Autism

From Lisa Jo Rudy, About.com GuideMarch 21, 2007

If there is just one thing the autism community needs more than anything else, it's support for adults on the autism spectrum. There's now a possibility for real relief in that area. Here's an announcement from Autism Speaks, which was involved in getting this act in front of Congress:
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) and Senator Wayne Allard (R-CO) announced the introduction of the Expanding the Promise for Individuals with Autism Act of 2007 (EPIAA), landmark legislation that would dramatically expand federal funding for life-long services for people with autism. The EPIAA would authorize approximately $350 million in new federal funding – above and beyond all existing federal dollars – for key programs related to treatments, interventions and services for both children and adults with autism.
Now, it's time to cross our fingers and write our representatives!

I was watching Larry King and his program on autism and I was wondering if the use of ultrasounds on pregnant women has ever been considered as possibly affecting a baby’s gene in the womb, which would ordinarily perhaps not be activated.
