Autism-Friendly Museums
Monday January 23, 2006
Who would take an autistic child to an art museum? As it turns out, we would! In fact, we drove all the way from Philadelphia to New York City just to take part in the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Discovery Program. It's an awe-inspiring experience to watch a group of developmentally disabled kids and adults taking part in a gallery tour...sketching from original canvasses...and having a terrific time at one of the world's great art museums. Interested in making art, history, science or hands-on learning part of your autistic family member's life? Read on to discover how museums are connecting with the autism community...
